Aim of research

The aim of the study is to investigate the impact of training and development sessions on employees’ performance within post-COVID period focusing on Tesco.

  • To evaluate different training methods with regards to UK retail sector.
  • To examine relationship between T&D and employee performance within Tesco.
  • To offer recommendations for improving the effectiveness of future training and development sessions within Tesco

Methodology

For analyzing the impact of training and development sessions on staff performance in UK retail industry qualitative research methods has been chosen. These methods focus on gaining data through survey and questionnaire. Qualitative methods also helps researcher in revealing perception as well as behavior of participants involved within the research. Inductive research has been selected to analyze and collecting data so that clear view of research issue can be presented (Thompson et al, 2021). The main objective of inductive approach is to create theories as well as making sense of the information. Interpretivism research philosophy has been chosen for the study on impact of training and development programs on the employees’ performance within Tesco. This helps researcher in doing analysis on the basis of standards, norms and values of the society. This is concerned with properly determining the analysis of certain action within culture and society.

Further, to address research problem data has been collected using both primary and secondary sources. Primary data has been gathered through survey from 30 employee of Tesco to gain deep knowledge and information regarding the impact of training and developments sessions on their performance. This is a process of collecting the data directly from the first hand sources which enhance the reliability and validity of the information (Stenfors et al, 2020). This also includes the capability to evaluate the behavior of individuals in natural frameworks, capability to monitor changes over time period and also the ability for large studies. Secondary data has been gathered from various sources including books, journals, articles, print media and many more. This saves time of the researcher as the data is already being collected by others. This also prevents unnecessary duplication of the data and helps researcher to learn about the objectives of the data gathered (Strijker et al, 2020). Thematic data analysis has been selected for analyzing qualitative information that includes set of data and making patterns as well as themes to gain in depth knowledge of objectives and accomplish those objectives (Adams and McGuire, 2022). This also allows researcher to find quick insights and analyze the data easily.

Ethical considerations

a. Respect for the autonomy, privacy and dignity of individuals and communities

The participants’ information sheet has been used to analyze the aims of the research. All participants have been given a copy of information sheet. This helps to provide purpose of the study to all the participants involved within the study (Fellows and Liu, 2021). The researches has also taken consent from participants’ using consent form which allow them to take part in various aspects of the research by either disagreeing and agreeing to the form. The consent form has included data of any advantages to the participants and all the relevant information. The researcher also took consent from research participants (Suri, 2020). This process involves ongoing communication as well as sharing information which provides great significance of informed consent within study. While conducting the survey confidentiality of participants has been maintained. The researcher has also reassured all the participants that the information they are providing will remain confidential. Anonymity has also been maintained which helps to avoid manipulation and bias that can affect the reliability and validity of the survey outcomes.

b. Scientific integrity

The researcher has evaluated ethical review that offer protection for participants as well as assist to protect the investigator. Researcher can obtain ethical approval by analyzing adhere to the accepted ethical norms of the study. This allows participants to have knowledge of their data and objectives of the research. The researcher has also created a positive impression for building rapport as well as trust within the participants. For participants it is significance of moral character as well as experience. For Tesco it is matter of forming an atmosphere that encourages responsible conduct by enhancing standard, norms of trust and excellence that inform organizational practices (Husband, 2020). This also allows participants as well as organization to trust and confidence within the research methods used as well as findings that outcome from this. This is very essential to conduct the research by maintain safety and dignity to analyze the appropriate results.

d. Maximizing benefit and minimizing harm
